A Crystal Ball

If we had a crystal ball, we would share it with you. But since we do not, we will share what we think it might say about some enterprises:

1. If you stick with what you are doing, things look bad, you will start to experience difficulty with achieving profits, loss of market share or death of your industry or market, new competition from leaner and more agile competitors with advanced solutions and business models.

2. Leaders of enterprise who continued doing what you are doing for more time are disappointed that they missed opportunities to adopt advanced technology and adapt their business to secure their market position, develop internal capability and build up the required assets to deliver.

3. If only you knew that your fate, if you do not change, was to find it more and more difficult to maintain performance and retain shareholder value then you might take action.

4. Change your ways or else you will loose ground, enterprise value and find the transition process more difficult to deliver and achieve a successful outcome.

5. Don’t wait until competitors or your customers transition first to advanced technology or your best people move on. Because, as each day passes you will find that you are further behind, your people are less engaged and that your competitors are better positioned to advance.

Magic Pills

If we had a crystal ball, we could probably also provide you with some fast acting magic pills to relieve your teams prevailing discomfort from:

  1. The pain of concern about the future and how technology will impact your enterprise.

  2. Anxiety about how to sustain competitive advantage in a constantly changing world.

  3. Failure to create an organisation of 'agents of change' that will help the enterprise to continually adapt?

  4. The frustration you get with the complexity of working out how to transform or transition the enterprise to respond to changing industry, market demands and new disruptive technology.

  5. The regular headaches of trying to lead change that crosses the organisation and may redefine its future.

While we cannot provide a script for a magic pill, we can prescribe an initial treatment that will begin to see early results in 30 days or less.

Pretty soon after taking this treatment we would expect you would start to experience:

  1. More coherence and resolution amongst the leadership team.

  2. Less fragmentation and disconnect.

  3. Clarity of strategic intent and decision-making.

Additional side effects of treatment may include:

  1. Start allocating resources confidently to secure future success.

  2. Stop investing in old technology solutions or technology that is unlikely to maximise future market position.

  3. Experience greater workforce motivation and satisfaction, while securing a solid future for the enterprise.
